I once watched my roommate, when playing against one of those guys that was (in his mind) better than everybody at everything, declare “mate in eight” and pointed to his Q-side knights square. Sure enough, the blow-hard was forced to walk his King, one move at a time, from his back rank to the designated square where he was the mated. We didn’t see that particular jerk for several weeks!
