“by the by, is anybody having trouble accessing gocomics’ site this morning?”++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I was having problems accessing GoComics as well! At least up to 11am (ET), then I gave up til now. That did not put me in a very “funny” mood, believe you me!
What a pair…Carson & Webb!!! That was hilarious! I was trying to think up a comment with additional words beginning with “c”, but I think they used them all up!
Now…how did you get the speech bubble on the picture of Webb and do all the text???? THAT is what I really want to know!
also the IT manager! I wonder if that is the one who will be working on this virus that is supposed to shut down several thousand computers at Midnite? Been reading up on that, and like most things the media is hyping it to death. I’m not worried at all, I have Norton, not Ed Norton, Norton Internet Security.
Good afternoon, CDers. After laundry, church, mop, vacuum, lunch and clean up I had no problems getting on GoComics. I guess there’s something to be said for being late to the party.
Hey there CD kids. Yet another hot day here..StelBel thanks for the link, it was great. I just love that song and I had totally forgotten about the mutton chops they used to wear.
Stel ol’ Bel, that just took a lot of looking through google until I found a picture of Joe Friday mentioning YOUR name.what, you don’t believe me?you REALLY don’t believe me?
Fellow Baby, look up, LOL! I got your comment, even told you it was funny. I just didn’t pick up on comicnuts post. I didn’t make the connection about Steve being out of work, because when you are a FREAKIN’ millonaire, who cares? :-D
I don’t have a strong recollection of seeing many comedies in their first run, Fellow Baby. My parents were more into dramas & westernsUntil we got a second TV in the house, we watched what my parents watched or nothing at all.
To this day, I am not particularly fond of TV westerns like Bonanza. I’m also not into medical shows, so Marcus Welby was also out. The only comedies I recall seeing in the 60’s were Laugh In & Petticoat Junction.
Fellow Baby you missed some good shows then, but luckily, for the most part, I liked my parents choices, of course, I could do without Lawrence Welk! LOL!
Yes, he was a good actor, made many good movies!
As for westerns, I still like Wagon Train, with Ward Bond only, not so much when he passed away and John Ireland took over. I also enjoy Cheyenne, and Rawhide still. Of course, I won’t go out of my way to see them, but I will watch them if I’m sitting here and hubby has them on.
Stel, WOW, TALK ABOUT A BLAST FROM THE PAST! I had forgotten all about Mongo Jerry, yep that is still a good summer song! Can you BELIEVE we ever dressed like that, or that guys wore their and beards and hair that way? LOL!
Fellow Baby I should clarify that Lawrence Welk remark. He seemed like a very nice man, but most of the music, esp. the Polka, REALLY DID NOT APPEAL TO ME!
Fellow Baby, sugie you might be interested in this too. He was a lifelong communicant. That Fellow Baby means he attended Mass every day and took communion everyday. That takes a DEEP DEEP COMMITMENT. I admire him for that, my Great Aunt Catherine, mail-order bride from Italy, also did that. Mr. Welk’s bio is VERY interesting and admirable. But I still don’t like Polka music! LOL!
Fellow Baby, I may have missed some good shows, but at least I got to see most of the ones I wanted to see in reruns. One other comedy my parents liked, that I did not, was The Andy Griffith Show_. my parents also liked *_Lawrence Welk* They had albums by him as well. I like listening to music from the 40’s & 50’s, but not Lawrence Welk.
A TV western that I do like now that my father always talked about, was The Rifleman. That show was never on in my youth that I know of, but it’s usually on AMC on Saturday mornings now.
I’m surprised to find that I only have 4 of his movies in my collection. There does seem as though there was a time when you couldn’t turn on the TV without seeing him.
:Yea, Fellow Baby the Rifleman was another good one. So was Maverick, but these days, I don’t care for them so much anymore. In fact, as I said, I don’t watch that much tv anymore. Never miss my “Days of Our Lives” though, but since I watched it, or kept up on it faithfully from Day One back in 1965 watching it with my mom, keeping up on it one way or another and then we found VCR’s and such, that’s a LONG time, and I will continue to watch as long as it airs. And that is one set of DVD’s I will buy in a heartbeat when it finally ends, which I hope is NEVER! Yeah, some would say I’m shallow, but you invest that many years, what can I say? It would be like saying goodbye to an old friend you know? LOL!
The cost would be absolutely staggering, Fellow Baby considering it ran daily. What I have in The Avengers* cost me a fortune already, and I don’t have the complete set yet. Then there’s The Beverly Hillbillies, Newhart & other TV Show seasons that I have yet to collect once finally released, if ever released. If they do plan on releasing them, then they’re taking their sweat f’n time of it.
Fellow Baby yes I suppose it would be staggering! But we are talking about a Soap Opera here, so maybe not. But then, since Soap Operas are disappearing in droves for FREAKING TALK SHOWS, like we don’t have enough ALREADY, it may cost a nice chunk of change as a collectors item. Maybe I should start saving all of the current ones now so I at least have a start! You know, I swear, just like politicians, these people who do programming etc, have NO CLUE what the public wants. Sorry for the rant! :-D
It’s good to see you back, Shika. If I recall correctly, you had a family emergency to tend to that kept you away from us. But of course my mind is like a seive, so that may or may not be accurate.

Were there repeats on soaps?
No there wasn’t though I think some channel called Soap Net is playing some of the cancelled soaps. I may or may not be back, so if I’m not, I’ll say goodnight. I feel bad for noicant, don’t know what happened, but been there and done that.
I suppose it’s time for me to call it a night as well. I’ll be around tomorrow night, but I can’t say the same for Tuesday or Wednesday. I have to go to bed early Tuesday night for an early start to a day trip to Dallas. I’m not sure when I’ll be back on Wednesday, but I figure it’ll be after 8. I’ll likely be too tired & grumpy for toons.
