Fellow Baby, from last night, I don’t think I can narrow it down to one particular favorite. I will say that my top 5 (in no particular order) are The Man Who Came To Dinner, A Christmas Carole (with Alastair Sim), Christmas In Connecticut, It Happened On 5th Avenue & Meet John Doe.
my top five are:‘An Explosion on 34th Street’‘Oh, Christmas Tree , how you burst into flames’‘A Hip Hop Christmas’‘Poison Cookies for Santa’‘Rudolph Stands Out when Mister Hunter comes hunting’and my all time favorite:‘A Tsunami for Christmas’
My favorite Christmas movies (in no order) are…It’s A Wonderful LifeA Christmas Carol (Allistaire Sim)A Christmas StoryMiracle on 34th StreetHoliday InnThe Preacher’s WifeChristmas in Connecticutt
cleo, when I was a kid growing up in Montreal, those movies were pretty much the Christmas standards on the air. Only in recent years have I seen movies like, The Bishop’s Wife, The Man who Came To Dinner, It Happened On 5th Avenue & Holiday Affair. I thought some of them were so good as to knock a couple of my long-standing traditional favorites from their top spot. They’re all excellent movies, but my top picks I will play on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
I can’t understand why these people have to knock off a bunch of innocent people before taking their own lives. Christmas will no longer have the same meaning to the families of these victims.
Fellow Baby, these people AREN’T PEOPLE! I also feel much sadness for the shooter’s family, and esp his brother who the MEDIA, IN IT’S INEVITABLE POSITION OF GETTING THE FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORETHEY OPEN THEIR BIG MOUTHS!
said he was the shooter, AND PLASTERED HIS PHOTO ALL OVER THE WORLD OVER AND OVER AGAIN! What FREAKIN’ MORONS!
When I was living in Montreal, many people would commit suicide by jumping in front of the subway – usually during the evening rush hour. They may have inconvenienced a lot of people, but at least no one had to mourn a wad of related deaths. That is, not until a shooter opened fire on a Montreal college campus and killed 20 some odd people before taking his own life. My best friend was in the neighborhood the time it happened. It was truly a bloody mess.
I just finished watching It’s A Wonderful Life and now I’m watching another Henry Travers film in Bells Of St. Mary’s. I didn’t realize it when I initially selected those movies for tonight.
I forgot one holiday movie, that truly is ONE OF MY FAVORITES! It’s not a true sentimental holiday film, it is to some degree, there are some nostalgic parts to it, but it is also hilarious, it would be PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES! The late GREAT John Candy and Steve Martin! Any of you ever see that movie?
Fellow Baby, I do because it was released around Thanksgiving I believe, and it takes place during the holiday season. I get what you are saying too, but I JUST LOVE THAT MOVIE! Like the old I Love Lucy’s, as many times as I have seen it, I still ROFLMAO until the tears roll down my cheeks!
Fellow Baby now you can see PLANES, TRAINS, and AUTOMOBILES at various times, so I guess you win, it isn’t a true holiday movie, but I LOVE IT ANYWAY! :-D
Yea cleo Groundhog Day was a GOOD movie! The outside shots as I recall ? were done in our dear little PA town of Punxsutawney, home of Punxsutawney Phil!

When the Principal finally opens that door it’s gonna knock her right out of that chair. Maybe she will get some sympathy and a lighter sentence…

And on a MUCH MUCH sadder note, the names of the victims have been released. Those little children were only 6 and 7 years old!

I have been watching the Christmas movies on the Hallmark & Lifetime channels. Some of them are cheesey but it’s better then “blood & gore”.
GROG Premium Member about 12 years ago
Hmmm, well I never saw it in the theater but I did see it on Canada’s movie network – and I’m sure it wasn’t during the holidays.
GROG Premium Member about 12 years ago
AMC has had the best so far, sugar, but I’ve got all my favorites on CD whether or not they’re on TV.
