From the message on the cake, are we to gather that Ed didn’t survive the gall bladder surgery? I didn’t know it was that dangerous, although I’ve always heard that it takes serious stones to get gall bladder surgery.
If I were Marge’s husband, I would jump up and say, “I can’t believe they messed up the message so badly! And after I accidentally licked it, too. Guess we’ll have to keep it. Rats.”
Actually, they use lasers VERY rarely to break up gallstones. The vast majority of the time they simply remove the gallbladder laproscopically - small incisions, cut it at the bile duct, staple the ducts, inject dye under fluoro to ensure ducts are patent, and pull out the gallbladder.
My wife and I had ours done three weeks apart, which was weird since we are exactly three weeks apart in age - guess hers couldn’t live without mine - LOL. The funny thing is I had MORE stones than her, but heres were bigger, thus ending the argument as to who had the bigger stones in the family :)

Someone has to say it, so it might as well be me. That took a lot of gall.

On the serious side, they use lasars for the surgery now, and the recovery time is much swifter.

@Sheik Re: Ed and his gall bladder surgery.
Or maybe it was just a typo. You know, “Fred” instead of “Ed”, or “Edie” instead of “Ed”.
