    Custard pie “au jus”…. isn’t that another name for flan? (assuming the “au jus” is caramelized sugar & vanilla)

    I’m going to use that name next time I make a flan.

    Not sure what the epithet “Luddite” is doing in this cartoon, since it doesn’t appear to be about technology. Maybe the point is that the term gets bandied about too casually?

    Ira, I think you may be overthinking it. HRH is using it as slang for “incapable of accepting innovation.” Granted, I think protesting the merging of au jus and custard pie is plain good sense, but maybe I need to go sabotage a Jacquard loom.
