Indy-Basset 500…

a shorter, much catchier name than even “The Indianapolis Basset 500,” which it was for years, or maybe still is, officially.

We do tend to grab onto nicknames and shorter versions…. otherwise, this strip might be “Cleopatra and Company.”

 

But wow…. 500 miles…. do you know how far that is for a basset?

Even on wheels… it’s a test of grit, endurance and speed.

Just look at that determined expression.

Those aerodynamically tuned ears.

That sleek chassis….. and the car looks pretty sleek too.

 

BTW…. in case you noticed them….

2019 is the 2nd year that all those snails, and their toon handlers, are on the field, with special permission….

You and I couldn’t get tickets to stand there.

Once again, they’ve been allowed to monitor the race, and watch, very carefully, all the preparation, timing, and skill that goes into it….

 

Next weekend, they’ll hold the 2nd ever gastropod version, June 2, 2019.

Their event is sanctioned by the Basset IndyCar League, as it’s not in direct competition with the hounds.

Speaking of you and I getting tickets….

I  don’t have one… , it’s 2000 miles away, besides beyond my budget.

But the Tiki will devote the whole back room to race day…

We can meet there today…

and see everything on TV and live stream.

It starts at 9:30 am in CA… so I’ll be watching a replay.

After staring at it for 5 minutes, I still can’t make heads or tails of it.

She is so far of the rest of the racers that you can’t even see them.

Around and around she goes. When she stops, nobody knows.

Yesterday there were questions about the differences in the puzzle…..

As it’s been 24 hours, I’ll post a list of the nine I found….

Somebody could still be working on it, though, I guess… so I’m doing it as a reply.

I’ve glanced in on the Human’s Race just now for the pre-race stuff. Looks like that storm will be holding off for a while. I hope, I hope. We’re recording the race so we’ll start it in about an hour and a half so we can miss a bunch of commercials.

In the meantime, I’ll enjoy watching the Indy Basset 500. They never have rain in CartoonLand.
