Oops. A death threat. That won’t go well under a policy of zero tolerance for school violence.
A school-teacher friend tells me that the joke about how to eat an elephant (one bite at a time) is illegal at her school because of the implied violence. Zero tolerance also seems to mean zero common sense.
Zero tolerance has gotten way out of control.
From CBSnews.com:
The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear the case of a young Arizona honor student who was strip-searched in the eighth grade by school officials looking for ibuprofen pills.
RRAmom: that news story reminded me to again tell my adult kids to teach my grandchildren: if your teacher or school asks you to remove your clothing for any reason - say you must call mom or dad at once, no matter what is threatened, before complying. There was one child who soiled himself because his teacher would not allow him to leave the classroom - no kid should be so cowed as to allow that to happen to himself. A child should respect her schoolteachers above all, except her own sense of modesty and self-respect.
One teacher had a 6yo boy suspended for kissing a 6yo girl, for sexual harrassment. Another genius, went to a psychic, who said a girl with the first intial V was being abused. Sicne she had only one such girl, she went to the Principal, who decided the psychic had to be right, and contacted Child Protective Services. They also felt a vague, psychic prediction constituted undeniable proof, and took the girl. By luck, she was required to carry a recorder with her at all times, and there was of course no abuse. So the Mom got her girl back. After nearly losing ehr for good, because a two bit psychic vaguelly refererenced an abuse with a girl with an itinial of V.

At our local high school, a student was expelled for having a butter knife left under the seat in her car in the parking lot.
