Aid: He's here, sir. Bush: That one? Aid: He prefers THE one, sir. Bush: So, Barack, I guess you're wondering what my secret is! Barack Obama: Sir? Bush: You're wondering why I haven't aged much during my presidency - the way Carter and Clinton did! Well, here's the deal. I got two rules. First, don't sweat the small stuff! That's what staff is for. Second rule: don't sweat the big stuff! That's what history is for. And by the time history gets it right, you'll be dead. Like Lincoln and the other greats. Obama: Well, yes, I guess that's right, sir. Bush: Anyway, that's my secret. Obama: It's safe with me, sir.

Hey lefty freak-a-zoids, did you know that Obama doesn’t have an American Birth Certificate? That means the Democratic Party couldn’t find one suitable candidate out of a pool of 305 million people. 30.5x10^6:0 people of American citizenship can be elected in America as a Democrat.
anonymous_coward almost 16 years ago
@NoFearPup: I’m sure you’re a troll but… I’m pretty sure Hawaii is part of the U.S.[1]. Ironically, given misinformed trolls like yourself, it was John McCain who was not a natural born U.S. citizen (being born in Panama[2]) and who was therefore on shaky legal ground regarding his eligibility for presidency. Using your logic then, clearly the GOP couldn’t find a suitable candidate (disclaimer: I think McCain was a fine candidate before he tarnished his reputation through his campaign tactics).
Please troll elsewhere, thanks.

Hey look Obamas got legs! I thought Trudy would make him an exclamation point or maybe an ampersand, with an Imam’s turban on his head, or maybe with a marlboro smoking and stinking up the joint hanging out of his non-existent mouth! Any other ideas for the genius cartoonist to add to his lurid, ugly, mean-spirited cartoon? How about a condom? A liberal Trojan skipping around the oval office reading a Heather has Two Mommies book? Teaching children how to ignore what the preacher says for 10 years? Dont quit Trudy we need your genius to enlighten us for the next 4 years.
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
You anonymous coward! Take your ill-informed slop and throw it to the hogs that dont check their facts. You have to have been there with your Mother _in_ Hawaii to be born there - DUH!

“…he passed Kapiolani Medical Center [55 Merchant Street, Honolulu, HI], walking below the hospital room where he was born on Aug. 4, 1961.”
Can you actually read or do you just disagree with anything that’s not Fox news?
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
“Troll” must be a term of endearment you anonymous coward because I checked your link and guess what? Your proof is a diaphonous cloud of transparent material that one might see covering Beyonces chest at a SRO concert.
anonymous_coward almost 16 years ago
@NoFearPup: Really, you think so? Man, I guess you’re right. Hospital records and birth certificates verified by one of the most reputable papers in the country certainly are no match for your reference-lacking assertions and handy thesaurus.
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
Verified hospital records? all I read about was some guy wandering around Oahu scratching his kiwis. And I’m sorry - You cant fake this vocabulary buddy boy - and I owe it all to my starry-eyed lib teachers of the past.
anonymous_coward almost 16 years ago
@NoFearPup: Ah, I see the problem. You see, journalists have this thing about not printing things they can’t prove, they call it “fact-checking.” Thanks to that habit (which you would do well to develop my young lad), we can infer that any facts printed are more likely true than not. Further, the very best papers (e.g., The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, et cetera) like to perform very thorough “fact-checking” and one can be nigh certain that everything they print is factually correct (otherwise think of the face they’d lose!).
Did your teachers show you the word “grandiloquent” yet?
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
I know what “grandiloquent” means; it means you dont have anything but bovine excrement to back up your statements with you nameless craven!
anonymous_coward almost 16 years ago
@NoFearPup: Well, no, it doesn’t. But use whichever insults you’d like, it’s still the Washington Post’s word against yours. I’m sure that your word is held in highest esteem at your local middle school.

Anonymous_Coward, since you fact-check, could you tell me if McCain really was 894 out of 899 in college. If so, is that as bad as a C average, hard-partying cheerleader? P.S. I think I like you.

Russell, first time I’ve ever felt the need to flag a comment too.
NoFear, a troll is a person who posts something only to stir up trouble and not really contribute to the forum.

I like the idea of obama’s avatar as a used condom with a hole in it,(useless).
longtimecomicsfan almost 16 years ago
@NoFearPup: Your first post is flat out wrong. On all points.
Obama produced a birth certificate.
The Democratic Party found several suitable candidates, and the primary process narrowed the field and ultimately selected one candidate to run.
305 million is 305x10^6 (or 30.5x10^7), but not 30.5x10^6
The rest of your posts descend into screed, name-calling, and innuendo, and come across as worrisome if not downright dangerous. Anyway, that’s why, after careful thought, I too flagged most of them as inappropriate.
P.S. - I flagged WickedCrazy too, as referring to the POTUS as a condom is just plain uncalled for.
WickedCrazy almost 16 years ago
longtimecomicsfan:And I flagged you because you seem to think it’s only ok for liberals to have free speech and speak their mind. But if a conservative does it, well a crime has been committed. And by the way he isn’t the president until he is sworn in in January.

If mom is a citizen at the time of birth, the child is a citizen. It doesn’t matter if the kid was born in the states, a US Territory, Burkina Faso or lower Earth orbit.
(FYI, I’m a strong conservative who grooves on Thomas Sowell and NRO.)
On topic…the axe in Dubya’s helmet is a new addition - perhaps it came from the free-market types who stood against the bailout? Personally applied by Mr. Newt?
I wonder what the Obama icon will look like. A laurel wreath would be in keeping with the Greek columns. Or maybe an acorn :-)
We’ll never know what the McCain icon would have been…
cleokaya almost 16 years ago
WickedCrazy you are quite right. Everybody has a right to their opinion. However, as you point out, Obama isn’t yet the president. So it’s tough to call him useless. He hasn’t yet had the eight years to show if he’s useless or not. Bush now, that’s a different story.
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
Longtimecomicsfan - Obamas campaign produced a certificate of “live birth” and not the original birth certificate. The release of Obamas birth certificate is contigent on BHO’s permission and he has not given it. The hospital must defer to his wishes so any validation on their part is suspect. Flagging of what people? In the four or so weeks I’ve been reading and leaving comments I have seen worse than anything I have said here. Do I have to go and cut and paste on GlennMcCoy, Chuck Asay, State of the Union, etc. and post it here for you people to realize what hypocrites you are?

AKH - How old Obama’s Mother was at his birth depends on when and where he was born, whether 17 in Kenya or 18 in Hawaii. And why can’t I sweat the small stuff and be sweaty about it, D_toon? - that’s all I ‘ve heard for the past eight years outside of “al-Queada” is Dems exuding and excreting the small stuff, _ad nauseum - like our genius Trudy here.

As diverse as all our opinions and beliefs are, I’ve got to say I feel pretty good about a person who not only takes time out in their busy day to read comic strips, but to also comment on them. I’ll drink a toast to all of you tonight. Cheers!

As for Obama’s avatar, didn’t any of you follow the election for the last 2 years? It’s going to be Jesus Christ!
WickedCrazy almost 16 years ago
cleokaya :Ask the people in his State that he barely represented. He didn’t even complete 1 term as senator. He left his constituents holding the bag so he could run for president.Well enough of this crud. Thanks for the toast and goodnight.
m_ortal almost 16 years ago
John McCain and Barack Obama are both U.S. citizens and I would be proud to support either of them.
In this most recent election, the bottom line is this: the Bush administration so thoroughly screwed up that a young (but intelligent) mixed race (Halfrican-American is a term I’ve heard used) intellectual (Adlai Stevenson was smeared for being intelligent) with a middle name of Hussein and a first name that rhymes with Osama, can be elected.
I’ve heard every negative in my previous paragraph used as a reason to vote against our new president, and I thank God (yes, Him) that Americans were basically able to see through the BS and vote for someone new. It tells me we haven’t given up hope.
Pup, do more studying and less arguing for the sake of arguing.
m_ortal almost 16 years ago
BTW, thanks for the definition of “Troll.” Yep, definitely a troll.
cleokaya almost 16 years ago
Well WickedCrazy, Illinois was won by Obama. You’re welcome for the toast and goodnight to you as well.
Akenta almost 16 years ago
NoFear, since you asked, basically it was what longtimecomicsfan explained. While you definitely allowed to voice your opinion, the name calling (first post starts with “Hey lefty freak-a-zoids”), doesn’t add any credibility to the rest of your posts. I tried to find some other of your posts, but clicking on your name, just brought these up. I think I found one on another strip, that while I didn’t agree with it, was written a lot nicer and made a valid point.

Just for the record… Shrub was not only governor of Texas when he ran for the White House, he had explicitly and specifically stated on the record that he would NOT run for another office while Governor. . But then Barefaced lying is a tradition among Texas wingnuts, so it wasn’t a surprise to anyone here when he did. . I’ve never been able to figure out how the rest of you fell for the twit, though.

Re the birth certificate thing, if someone wants to remain in denial about Obama’s ascension to power, maybe we should just let them stew in their own juices, y’know?
And if you *do* believe Obama’s election to be illegitimate, I am curious to know just what you propose to do about it.
DesultoryPhillipic almost 16 years ago
@Tigger How do you prove a negative? Wasn’t it Philip J. Berg, a former member of Pennsylvania’s Democratic State Committee and former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania, who filed one of the first law suits? So much for your right wing conservative talk show host theory!
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
wndrwrthg - Wonderful Warthog, my one regret is I took a shot at you (I thought I was being ganged up on by “Libs” - your comment was funny and appropriate - and your creative avatar is …unique.); I apologize sincerely - I removed my comment.
Akenta - Do you consider yourself a “lefty freak-a-zoid”? Name-calling goes on quite a bit here - I consider it a quick and concise way to delineate our positions. I was trying to pick a fight - I thought that was why we are all here; for positive and negative criticism. And for a little FUN.
Tigger - The war of links: This issue has just been rejected by the Supreme Court… The elites have solved the question for us. The question of PE. Obama’s citizenship will only be settled by the release of said document. The left-media tool Salon.com has already excused even not revealing said document: “If the long-form birth certificate were released, with its unequivocal identification of Hawaii as Obama’s place of birth, the cycle would almost certainly continue.[of conspiracy innuendo] ” -Salon.com The issue will continue to be clouded by Bureaucratic legalese: Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.” http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/bornin_theusa.html
This document has been “sealed” by the Governor of Hawaii. That is a legal term - no one is able to see and view this document and, this is key , no one has the legal authority to describe this document accurately beyond Obama himself. And this level of restriction is unusual see: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=79174
Now, isn’t it quicker to just call each other by carefully-chosen, nasty names?
The End. Maybe…
NoFearPup almost 16 years ago
Is this mea culpa gonna just sit here on the second page with no one to read it? Hear ye, Hear ye! The troll begs forgiveness and shafts you again!
m_ortal almost 16 years ago
The issue of a birth certificate is moot. If ANY of your direct ancestors were U.S. citizens, you are born with U.S. citizenship. (Civics class - used to teach it). Obama’s mother and maternal grandparents and probably beyond for several generations were citizens, ergo, he is. Also, he was obviously born, since he is now alive (Now we’ll have the alien abduction conspiracy nuts chiming in). The only people who benefit from this argument are the lawyers who will argue any issue if you pay the bill. (And if you don’t, they’ll sue you.)
Good Mea Culpa, young troll; there may be hope for you. Merry Christmas all.
DesultoryPhillipic almost 16 years ago
Websters 9th New Collegiate Dictionary - moot = weather used as an noun, adj, or archaic term means arguable and open to debate. You are indeed correct.
