Ah, the good old days, when one needed a grounds for divorce.
As Ruth Bell Graham once said, when asked whether she’d ever contemplated divorcing her evangelist husband, Billy: “Divorce? No. Murder, yes; but not divorce.”
That’s one of the laws of nature in Toonland. Cars never touch the road when moving. And you never fall after you run off a cliff until you look down and realize you have.
txmule: This strip was first published in a time before they had laws making kids wear helmets and knee pads to ride a bike, cross a street or even get out of bed. Remember the old saying, “What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.”??? Well, I feel sorry for this and future generations. They will grow up to be weak.
Yeah, Gil, because flying through a windshield and surviving will certainly make you stronger and will not in any way leave you partially disfigured with possible brain damage.

We see in the 1st panel dad with his seat belt on, in the last panel neither Calvin or dad is sporting a seat belt. This is hazardous specially
when the car is flying low……..

Great comment! I laughed so hard I almost peed myself! After the last couple days I’ve had dealing a difficult insurance company I needed a good laugh. Thanks!

Gil, at least todays kids will live.
I don’t think the car is flying. It’s just under water from the flooding the rain caused.
