I love it! Especially the first two panels… Calvin leaving in a sulk with a saxophone… hilarious… poor Dad though..

Parental busyness and childish boredom do not mix well.

Define useful Dad. Calvin never has problems with finding ways, they just differ from Mom & Dads.

I thought it really was possible- Just not in a huge BOOM. A slow smoking, then suddenly you’re on fire.

What’s going through dadd’s mind in the second last panel ? Gun, knife, choke hold, rope ???

Could be any one of those.

I can always count on Calvin for a good Sunday chuckle.

That’s not spontaneous.

Such a diabolical mind is almost wasted on comic strips. Can you imagine it turned to world domination? C&H warfare?? We could cut our military budget to a fraction!

Poor dad, and he just wanted a dachshund…….

One definition: the chemical process of both spontaneous heating and subsequent spontaneous ignition. Spontaneous means “happening without apparent external cause,” not necessarily rapidly. I love Calvin’s vocabulary. He may get bad grades, but he’s not stupid.

RayC, thank you for saving me the effort of being “useful” and posting that explanation of spontaneous. I loved Physics in school and spon. comb. was one of my favorite phenoms. Calvin is obviously trapped in an “underchallenging” environment.

Oh dad, why couldn’t you just once play along with Calvin and enjoy the joke?!
