I love his answers but I doubt she would ask him questions with answers like that

There are occasions where Calvin does come up with the right answer while slamming back into reality, “very good Calvin I didn’t think you were paying attention.”

When are they going to animate Calvin and Hobbs? I’d love to see it on TV!

Or maybe a Calvin and Hobbs live-action movie!!

The word mertilize comes from the 3 Stooges! Watterson was a Curly fan too!

bill watterson has clearly said before he never wants calvin and hobbes merchandise to be sold or calvin and hobbes to be shown on t.v, he has critised Garfield for doing both these things.

I easily remember staring off into fantasy worlds while my teachers droned on and on about far less important things….like how to spell for eggsample.

I am sure his teacher asks him for the answer quickly so Calvin better pays attention in the classroom instead of his fantasy daydream about spaceman spiff journey!

As a retired school administrator, I can appreciate a teacher calling a student back to attention, but the sarcastic put down in the last frame is uncalled for and unacceptable. All children deserve respect so shame on you teacher.

also bill watterson didn’t want to hire voice actors for calvin or hobbes so they couldn’t do anything really besides comics

Calvin and Hobbes - the Broadway Musical!

Jean Shepherd, the author of “A Christmas Story,” also wrote a hilarious short story about a young man who became the hero of his Algebra class by correctly calling out the answer to a horrible equation. He read the number on the jersey of the football player sitting in front of him.

Yukoner, by the fact you are retired, I am supposing you to be my age or slightly older; I remember comments like that being pretty much the status quo going thru elementary and high school. Perhaps your experience was different and you as a superintendant were able to support or implement that change.

Space cadet, I can’t believe he made such a dumb decision. He could have made a lot of bucks with C&H merchandise and movies.

JonD17 I agree with you, when I was a kid in school teachers said far worse than what Miss Wormwood said to Calvin.

As for Calvin, he has a great imagination!

    Burgundy2 says:

What is the answer to life, the universe and everything…?

    Doctortoon already answered that, 42.

    space-cadet says:

What about all those products like mudflaps and bumperstickers with Calvin urinating on things?

“What about all those products like mudflaps and bumperstickers with Calvin urinating on things?”

Completely unauthorized- Watterson hates them (as do I), but since so many people make the stickers it’s pretty much impossible to shut them down. The only merch he authorized was the books and calendars.

Concerning the unauthorized merchandise that is being sold, I have a question on morality for the group. There are decals that show Calvin knelt in prayer before a cross and others that are similar. Now, does having these decals violate the command against theft? They are in effect stealing from the artist, even though the bearer may not be aware that they are unauthorized. Is possession of stolen intellectual property a violation or does this even get considered by those who display them?

Wndrwrthg The folks who bought the Praying Calvin Decals probably didn’t know that Watterson didn’t authorize them. The jerks who made those are out for a quick buck on some one else’s creation. I am sure THEY don’t care, they just steal from anyone they can.
