It’s a brilliant move on Calvin’s part, unless his mom comes into the bathroom and turns on the water while looking over her shoulder and announcing in a loud angry voice, “Calvin, I’m running your bath water. Get your little butt in here now buster.”
From yesterday:
Does anyone remember “Beany and Cecil” when it was live-action puppets? It was broadcast in LA on KTLA (channel 5). It was a few years later that the animation series was done.
3hourtour, if you don’t like Calvin & Hobbes, don’t read it! So it’s a repeat, the best things in life are meant to be enjoyed over and over again! I guess if you had a REALLY FAVORITE MOVIE of all time, you wouldn’t watch it a second time, BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A REPEAT!
@JanCinVV, I vaguely remember that, about Beanie & Cecil being puppets, but I remeber the cartoon show more. Wasn’t it on Sunday nights by the way, like before the Ed Sullican Show? No, it couldn’t have been because I always watched Walt Disney. Beanie must have been on at some other time.
that one is one of my favs as well.
but the best one ever is where calvin sticks his head in the back door and yells “MOMMMM!” she tells him not to yell across the house and to come in there if he needs to talk to her. next panel shows him walking through the house. when he gets to her he says”wheres the hose i stepped in dog doo” thats just too funny
Calvin is smart enough to hide in the bathtub but his mommy will absolutely find him in that bathtub and give him a furious look. Calvin will look at his mommy and says “UH-OH! you catch me in the act on right time!” LOLs!
TRUECRISTIAN! If you keep posting on the comment about the religion. God will judge you for that comment. QUIT IT! Thank you!
Gweedo I laughed and laughed so hard after I read your comment for Truecristian. I couldn’t help stopping laughs. Oh! I need to stop laughing! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haa….
@Char32, GOOD FOR YOU! My dad is 95 and doing fairly well for that age!
If I make it to 77, I’ll still be reading the funnies, have been since I was old enough to read! Wanted to be an illustrator when I got out of high school. I was actually pretty good, but I got married, etc. etc and it just never happened! Guess that’s why I still love these things! Some of my friends think I’ve never grown up!
Drystyha; Cuaght your comment on page 2 of yesterday’s Calvin. Amen to all that. When I was in high school, I used to stop off where my then 6 yr old nephew was being babysat and watch Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear almost every afternoon with him. Augie Doggie too
Hey guys! Slack off!
Gweedo, my friend, perhaps you could heed this yourself a touch. I agree with your sentiment in your later post, but perhaps there is a different way the graphic action you wish the person to take could be expressed. Those were words I expect to see in State Of The Union rather than here.
Char32, had to run some errands so I couldn’t get back to you right away. I shall try to stay Forever Young, even if it won’t be in the looks dept. I truly enjoy the comics, and first thing I’ve been doing lately, in the morning, is check out “Overboard” for my daily feel good start to the day! Then, if I have time I run over to Pibgorn, mainly to read the comments! The graphics are great too, but I still haven’t had time to thoroughly investigate the detailed history of the storyline! I suppose if Gweedo sees that he’ll remove me from the couch!
JonD17, I forgot all about Augie Doggie! I had an Augie Doggie piggy bank when I was a kid. I also had Boo Boo Bear! He came to the hospital with me when I had my tonsils out at the age of 7. And who was the little penquin, I think it was a penquin!
I think there is room for all sort of comics.I love them all.But telling someone to have a heart attack or stroke is anti comic.Unless it was meant in a funny sort of way.
Drystyha, I think the penguin was Chilly Willy,(trying too hard to contain a chuckle here after scolding Gweedo…. man sometimes ya just can’t win!!! anyway, I think he, the penguin, started out in dime comics and had a friend named Wally Walrus. Was much better on tv to my recollection.
either way he is stuck in the tub, hasn’t he figured it out yet, that mom will always win. she is bigger and the mom.
good idea though.
dont go crazy you guys, but i think we all need to give each other a break and avoid subjects that can cause arguments or nasty words to others. it is a comic strip we are supposed to enjoy it and laugh. not go crazy.
Tennessee Tuxedo will not fail. Right Chumly?
.
Is this truecristian and RogOregon the same troll from State of the Union? Flames have that same psychopathic quality about it.
Suddenly Top Cat, Mighty Mouse, Underdog, Linus the Lionhearted, snagglepuss, Ruff & Ready, Baba Looey, Mr. Jinx, Augie Doggie and Alfie Gatore come creeping back into my conscious mind. I loved those days.
@Gweedo, Well, I hope you don’t want to kick me off the couch, EVEN IF YOU COULD! Walter Krantz, circa 1950’s? I think you might be older than me! And no, BooBoo didn’t have his tonsils out, he just kept me company until they put the gas mask on me! Sidebar, I still have him! He’s in my attic with all my other stuffed animals. I only had about 10,(two of which are Pixie & Dixie, remember them?) but they are keeping company with my two sons couple of dozens!
@cleokaya, man, you brought back some more cartoon memories! Those were the days!
I loved Calvin and Hobbles so much, I bought most of the strip collections, and kept them for my grandkids, after my kids grew up. This one is great. My favorite is the snow-goons, though.
@teaguemj, I have all the books in paperback form. Every year my sons or husband bought me one for Christams and now I have the whole set. I also have some Far Side, Adam @ Home, Fox Trot, For Better or For Worse, Get Fuzzy & Fox Trot. I’m starting my own Overboard, as those books cost a fortune! They are out of print and apparently collector’s items!
