Pterodactyls are gooey bugs that move very slowly. Now shoot Hobbes.

Yes, technically pterodactyls are not dinosaurs, only a closely related order of reptiles. On the other hand, Calvin is, more or less, in the region of six years old. Like any six-year-old, he has some remarkable knowledge, in areas he’s interested in, but not in others.

Still, given his interest in dinosaurs, it is perhaps odd he doesn’t know the distinction.

OTOH, were Calvin to be a three foot tall fly, think of how he could gross everyone out! Yum, bugs!

In Pogo, the name of that creature was spelled (and pronounced) “p-tooie-daffodil”. And that’s how I think of it to this day.

or worse yet, Hobbes could tansmogrify Calvin into a good little boy who gets good grades, does his homework correctly and obeys his parents. Calvin srhould really be afraid.

madampresident12, I think that requires an add-on accessory of “ethicator” (transmogrifier-gun Hobbes holds is the bare-bones Beta version).

Or the clone box, when there were six Calvins running around…

Well, bmonk–that’s another strip thread entirely (where he redesigns the clone-box with an ethicator; first time, he had transmogrified the clone-box into a transmogrifier to get rid of the six clones)
