to geo 111 hijacking the site that was not my intention, all I was trying to do was restore my family honor, and get to know everyone the fun way by conducting that comic exercise that was for everyone even you to participate and have fun with picking a comic character. I screwed up by making a lot of you angry so I was trying to make up for it.

Calvin, get used to it. They never do look like the pictures. At least not until you’re 40 and made 1000 of them.

Well bald, they just make a tiny image of one–though one would need to be about the size of an ant to actually paint the features.

Yeah, Hobbes figured it correctly–for the picture on the box of a BIY model (car, lorry, plane) they always use a real one (for plane to be displayed on stand, they then do double-exposure to make it fit; oft I’ve seen the picture on front for model plane does not display the stand).

Just like fast food restaurant commercials. They show you a huge juicy burger but when you order it it’s very small.

I think Hobbes has a point there. It’s like McDonald’s and BK. The burger you paid for never looks as good as the one in their pictures! Grr!

I was never any good with airplane models either. But give me a fashion model and watch me go to work.

If “you” don’t want the model airplane to be displayed, you can hang the model airplane with the wax fishing thread up the ceiling that looks more likely “airplane flies in the sky.”

Charlie37133, you said you are good with plastic man so I would like to ask you about the metal model thing. do you familiar with those metal model car or whatever? I bought two of model 1970’s Ford Mustang Mach II but these are metal and primer in color that need to spray with different kind of color to look nice on it. I was not sure about it. I never did with the metal model car before. I used to know what to do with plastic model cars. I would like to know what your feedback about metal model car or not. Thx! :-)

@JonD, it looks like a plane you could walk away from after a crash landing…and they used to say any landing you can walk away from is a good landing…LOL

[glumly, rubbing the knot on my head] Yeah, you did, but the squirrels got real indignant when I started eating their peanuts, and shoved me back out again.

since its a disaster already, it was at this point that I would have decided to have a plane crash…….did you know that plastic cement glue is flammable?…….great effects, but you only get to do it once!

I think Calvin should give up on making plastic models and get himself a REAL Phantom Jet. (I recall this actually happens in a C&H Sunday comic along the way. Fasten your seat belts.)

Haha i just this! they are so funny! I cant belive they cant make a plane!

One of my best memories is putting together a model of Indian Point Nuclear Generating plant with my Dad when I was about 12. It was a present from Santa. After Christmas dinner we started, with my brother, and worked all day and through the night and finished about 7AM the next day. Priceless memories. Wonder to where that got off.
