Calvin, that picket fence in panel 2 would make a great backstop. That is unless Hobbes is really wild, but then he is a tiger so of course he’s wild. Good luck finding a catcher.

why let the girl do this tiresome job? =]]

It’s really annoying to fetch balls, no matter in tennis game and so forth.

when i used to play catch with nephews or nieces, i made it clear that if they missed the target, namely me, they would have to go fetch the ball. it made for rapid improvement in their accuracy!

The difference in height doesn’t make it any easier for this pair to work together.

Why don’t you try and actually hit the ball Calvin, then you don’t have to go and fetch.

Hey Steamerjon, I bought the Complete Calvin and Hobbes a while back and wanted to sell all of my other C&H books. I live in Germany, so the shipping won’t be too bad. Let me know if used books are OK for you.

The ball went over the fence. High ball and wild curves.

Calvin, just be glad you didn’t have to run fast to keep the ball from rolling into the storm drain! (We lost so many baseballs that way.)

SteamerJon; this may sound funny but … I own pretty much all the Calvin & Hobbes books and still feel the desire to come and check out the daily comic. This even though most of what I see here is something of a repeat of what is in the books.

Rule 1. There are no rules. Rule 2. When in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

N7326 Foxtrot, it’s hard to catch the book on Calvinball rules since the rules are made on the fly.

Why should Hobbes improve his pitching when he’s got you to do the fetching? Let him fetch, he can run faster than you.

Homerun Derby with 2 people and one can’t get it close to the strike zone is a nightmare of chasing bad pitches,

This reminds my of my youth playing street hockey with my cousin. He’d often wind up for the big slapper that was either wide of - over the - or high and outside of the net. Rarely did he get away a shot that was actually on the net.

some time ago, another comic strip had a reference to Calvin and Hobbes being found dead in the woods. What comic strip was that and do you have a link?

How does Calvin get his stuffed tiger to throw the ball to him?

He says, “Hey Hobbes! Let’s play some ball, you pitch.”

    Next question… ?

Calvinball bears a certain resemblance to the game Nomic. Oddly, the wikipedia article also thinks Calvinball is like Nomic, and, given sufficient time, either game could end up as the other!
