Watterson realy has an ingredible imagination, it’s great to invent so many stories and never get boring!
When I was a little girl, my brother invented every day a new story for me and they were very interesting too, I wanted to listen for ever and ever. Now I look to Calvin and Hobbes, it’s never ending too!
I can sometimes get people involved in a very playable metagame. One player (rulemaker) makes up the rules, and writes them down, but doesn’t show them to the others until the game is over. The other players begin to play (with no idea of the rules), and the rulemaker is umpire - calling plays illegal (quite often at first) and awarding points as required. The other players attempt to figure out the rules by trial and error - the fastest study gets the most points (by whatever scoring method was invented). The rulemaker scores based on the difference of the highest score and the average score. (Rulemaker is encouraged to create rules that are decipherable to a small subset of players - preferably one.)

My daughter and her Dad had the same thing for bedtime stories. They both took part. It was very entertaining and Hillary didn’t object to bedtimes. I’d recommend it to any parent or guardian.

If this is the way Hobbes makes up rules, no wonder he scored ten billion.

I’m not so sure it’s Calvin ball but Hobbes ball since he makes all the rules in his own favour.

There are only two permanent rules to Calvinball, and it is a sport played today ever since Bill Watterson invented it.
Rule #1 Make up the other rules as you play.
Rule #2 No rule can be used more than once in a game.

Nah! That is too close to baseball to be calvinball.

I think Hobbes is fair Thats the way to make it more fun Make the rules as you go Calvin does this to

Calvin might make a good manager some day. I think he’s got the lungs for giving the umpire an ear-full.

this is the kind of pickup game where you make the rules as you go, makes for more fun

You forgot rules 3 and 4
Rule #3-You have to wear a mask
Rule #4-No one can question the masks

@Kerovan;
I have to ask about rule #2 - does it apply to rule #1? (which is, after all, one of the rules) and to rule #2 itself? (ditto)
If you think about this, either:
you will come up with some very interesting applications of mathematical logic;
or:
you will get a very bad headache. Just take whatever helps your headaches, and STOP THINKING ABOUT CALVINBALL RULES!

Trouble is, Hobbes’ height is a figment of Calvin’s overactive imagination. So no matter how tall Calvin grows, Hobbes will always be twice as tall!
