“To Infinity and Beyond!”
Is that parallel to “Forever and a day?”
BTW anybody, if the universe is expanding, as Edwin Hubble ‘discovered’ in 1929, how can it be infinite (as some people think)? Can infinity expand? That would be a paradox, wouldn’t it?
By blaming Hobbes, Calvin is guilty of ‘passing the buck’ again. He should have Harry Truman’s sign “The Buck Stops Here!” with him as a reminder to take responsibility.
However, Truman might have done better to let General MacArthur take responsibility for prosecuting the Korean Conflict across the Yalu River into Manchuria in 1950. But that’s a controversial issue which probably can’t be proven either way. Firing MacArthur didn’t work out well, though, since we ended the Conflict where we started (at the 38th parallel).
Puddleglum2: Since we believe that the universe began as a tiny, tiny speck about 13 or 14 billion years ago and the expansion rate is not infinite, we can say that it is large but finite in expanse. But there are no known limits to its expansion (as far as we know.) Space itself is expanding.
Lesson over. Now, back to Calvin’s fantasy…
I have vague memories of sitting in my toybox when I was little, It was my spaceship. Much to my mom’s chagrin, my toys had to be emptied out each time I played in the box.

I don’t think a GPS would work “above” the satellites. Anyway, the G stands for global, not inter-planetary.

At least they’ve got FOOD with them.. =)

Calvin counts on Hobbes way too much. If you want something done right, do it yourself.
Just need a couple more wagons to recreate Gene Roddenberry’s idea of wagon train to the stars.
lewisbower about 15 years ago
How are they going to get back?
Oberon12 about 15 years ago
Nah, Calvin has Galactic Positioning System in the wagon.

Mars will pull them and so they will find the way blind!

Unbeknownst to Calvin, Hobbes has been brainwashed by Susie due to forced belly rubs and they are now en route to Venus instead!
