When I was six years old,
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year
For dreaming in bed,
And downhill sleds,
We’d fly off the edge,
We were always so bold,
When I was six years old.
Apologies to Ervin Drake, the Kingston Trio, and Ol’ Blue Eyes.
I’ve not had an adventure in a long time. Pt job with no vac, sick we can’t afford to go anywhere. I’ve tried for full time but employers keep saying no.
Calvin you have enough adventures in your mind but teachers might think something is wrong.
This reminds me of my time in grade school when everyone in the class was assigned the task of thinking about a “funny” incident in our lives – then getting up in front of the class to report on it. What a downer that was! Much like Calvin, nobody could think of any funny incidents worthy of being reported to a room full of people. At the end of that exercise we all sat in our seats red-faced and feeling depressed over the whole thing.
Calvin, with an assortment of aliases in the basement (spaceman spiff, tracer bullet, captain napalm, stupendous man) how can you not have any adventure? Well, if nothing works out, you could ask your dad to read “Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie” again and again. That will be an adventure I am sure.
You people READ THIS STRIP, and had the Calvin dinner animation I posted for you yesterday removed? You’re seriously some vindictive people. That was an actual Calvin strip. If you were SO offended by it, why do you read this comic strip???
Calvin’s experience reminds me of a true life experience that happened to the father of the kids that lived next door to us in Princeton, New Jersey. He was a brilliant mathemetecian who was really not mentally set up to drive a car. He used to start the car by putting the accelerator all the way to the floor and then turning the key. You could hear the engine screaming all over the block. One time he got the car started and put the tranmission in Drive instead of Reverse, with the accelerator floored, of course. The car went flying through the back of the garage and into the back yard. I believe his wife drove him most of the time after that.
Calvin had all sorts of adventures, even if just imaginary. If they have to be real, he could write about the time he flooded the house trying to fix the bathroom faucet.

I saw it and seriously doubt if any of us Calvinists made such a cute thing disappear. I think it might have been the GoComic police….maybe because the homemade animation was some sort of copyright “infringement” against Watterson, or the Syndicate, or God, or something.
I completely agree with grazer. I don’t think anyone here who loves Calvin (and Hobbes) as much as we do would have had anything to do with its removal. I, too, enjoyed your cute little Calvin animation yesterday. It’s a shame the GoComics police removed it for whatever reason. I’m glad I got to see it before it disappeared.
It was almost certainly a matter of copyright infringement, folks - in the eyes of the syndicate if no one else. They’re real touchy about C&H infringements when they can be, especially since Bill W. never granted any licenses for his work to be used in such a way.
Don’t overreact, Mrs. Skywalker. The whole galaxy isn’t out to get you - just the Emperor and Darth Vader. :)
There’s no gestapo here. I’ve been on other sites that disable the links. With those groups however they mention in brackets “link removed.” I’m surprised they don’t here. One reason is copyright (and not only for C&H) and the other is for security. If your link is to a site that one day becomes dominant it can be problematic. It can be taken over by a totally different site and/or unsavory one.
For once mrsluke, I thought the animation was adorable – who would have had it removed? And why in the world? Maybe they’re right – maybe it was the GC police. I’m also glad I got to see it before they removed it.
MrsL.S. I remember that strip with fondness. It portrayed Calvin’s imagination at its very best!
Thanks for bringing it back into memories of true C & H fans.
As for Calvin’s adventure… pick a sled ride, Calvin… any sled ride of yours! Instant A+ ☺ They always end up an adventure!
Thank you for all the replies about the animation. I just thought it would be enjoyable for all of us Calvin lovers. I didn’t make it, it’s in someone’s public Photobucket. Photobucket is owned by MySpace. They wouldn’t have let it remain on PB that long if it were a copyright infringement. I didn’t even think of the GC police, because they allowed plenty of other linked animations to remain. Right below my removed comment is a comment saying it was “gross”.
The problem here, Johannan Rakkav, is that there ARE several people on this site who go to my page and flag every comment I post every day. I can name each one of them, because they harass me to no end, no matter what I say. The most innocuous things have been removed. Stuff that makes no sense as to why it should be problematic, so as for your assertion that I am overreacting, I have plenty of reason. My comments are attacked and removed on a daily basis by people who feel that only they have the right to comment, and if your opinion differs from theirs, they will make you leave, as they let me know outright. Seriously! It’s unbelievable what the GC police allow to go on here and what they will remove.
