Hasn’t Mom heard Calvin describe the chocolate coated sugar bombs ? How come she doesn’t feel like eating them ? I am sure that will spoil her figure enough if she feels like it.
Jelly donuts are the only donuts I like to eat….so I stay as far away from them as possible……until I stumble on some in the break room on those rare occasions…..Guess what happens then?
It’s alls about how market your product mom, you should have told him ” Calvin, I caught a giant squishy bug, would you like to eat it? ” He would have taken it in a flash.
With my chest blown out as much as my head, I said
“Hey, look at my tee shirt.”
“So, you had a Boston Cream Doughnut with your coffee.”
You would not believe how fast a head and chest can contract.
Marg has gone to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. Look for news of a terrorist capture soon, unless the CIA decides to keep it under wraps.
Please keep quiet about this. I’ve already told you more than I know.
It’s STRAWBERRY season again and we’ve had Strawberry pie every day and the best part is that you can hit the Calvins of the world over the head with the vitamin C in the berries and the milk in the whipped cream.
Grog,
“…until I stumble on some in the break room…”
Why are you walking on the table, anyway?
Is the break room where you break your resolutions?
I’m not making fun of you; I’m just playing with words.
I don’t like donuts unless they are whole-grain. Look what they do to the cops. Some of them should be in better shape, but I’m on their side anyway as far as enforcing the law is concerned.
Starfollower777 said, I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t find that very funny Ray C. Does anyone else agree?
NO. I don’t agree. With “I’ve already told you more than I know” Ray C has possibly the best one liner I have seen on this site. If you are talking about the sentence before this line, I find it harmless political commentary and not near as mean as the political or religious comments frequently found here. He isn’t attacking anyones belief system or trying to force them to accept his belief system. Like I said … harmless.
A sugary donut filled with grape jelly … and offered to him by his own mother no less! Given the way he described it to her, you’d think he’d jump all over the chance to have one since food described like that appeals to him all the time!
As for me, his description of that donut wouldn’t have deterred me in the least from eating it! I just love, love, love(!) jelly-filled donuts (raspberry’s my favorite)!!! I NEVER pass up a chance to have one whether I’m on another one of my Slim Fast diets or not!!! :o)
Calvin refusing something gross with sugar in it. Are we talking clinical depression here? This is totally out of character for him. His face in the second panel is marvelous. His mother needs to lighten up a bit….
Where are all the commenters who tell us Mom doesn’t love or like Calvin? Even after days and days of being driven “crazy” by his antics, according to some posters, here she is offering him a great, even if not healthy, special treat. That’s LOVE!
It’s fun to suck out their fluids before you eat them.
Re 777: Didn’t you know that the CIA developed the web in the first place, solely to pass messages in the comments section of the funny pages? “Pakistan” is code for “Dave’s not here.”
Mythreesons, who is saying that here? I don’t see it. The fact is that most of the time the parents show no tolerance or interest in the kid, since YOU brought it up.
Hi ChukLitl: Wasn’t the CIA, it was DARPA. (Along with war toys, they are also developing the best prostheses for war Vets ever, their new hand can pick up a dime with no problem, so you can’t hate them too much).
I agree about sucking out their fluids before you eat them. Especially raspberry. YUM!!
Thanks for the nice comments, all. That phrase has been in my family for years. I think I coined it when my wife tried to probe me about something that happened at work that I had interpreted rather than witnessed directly.
I’d appreciate it if Starfollower777 could tell me if there was something offensive in the comment or it was just not funny. I can live with the latter, but try to avoid the former.
And Marg is not, to my knowledge, an agent of the CIA or any other covert organization. But she could be!
Starfollower777, a sudden thought…I hope you didn’t think that I was implying that Marg is a terrorist! I was implying that she was instrumental in the capture.
Maybe that’s the misunderstanding that led to your comment.
Seems like this would be right up Calvin’s alley. All the juicy squishyness of gnawing on a big old bug without all the reality of the bugginess taste!
My daughter who is way older then Calvin did close to same for me. Our family minus our son went to a buffet restaurant we where real hungry spent morning garage sales in one small town and it’s hot all over, anyway I had eatten was filling up fast especially drinking lots of water. I made the comment of being full she said put the spoon down I had chocolate cake with chocolate pudding on top but was very full. I’m not at all slim like Calvin’s mom but conscious of what I eat. Today was sorta of a treat today.
As for Calvin I can’t blame him for not wanting that filled donut mom you should leave it along too much fat.
If Calvin thought they were the BEST ‘Giant Squishy Bug Dounuts’ in the world, with grape flavored purple guts that his Mom got especially for him, I bet he would eat them!
And if Mom thought they were the BEST ‘melt in your mouth’ beignets with a berry filling, I bet she would eat them, too!
I know that if I was Calvin and I secretly wanted them all for myself … and I knew that this is what I had to do/say to get them … then I would too!!!!!
Why would calvin hate jelly doughnuts? Is there a problem with them? They taste good to me. And plus even though it might look like that doesn’t mean it taste’s bad!
