Paige: Fully illegible. Peter: Ah, that's more like it. Paige: Playing the ol' "Benefit of the doubt" gambit, I see.

i don’t get it. is he trying to do bad handwriting so that his teacher can’t read it so he has a better chance of getting a good grade?

I think I get it… He doesn’t want the teacher to be able to somehow decipher his bad handwriting, so he just wants it so bad the teachers can’t read it, so then he will get a better grade because not being able to read it would get him a better grade than if he tried.
