Peter: We had a Marine Corps recruiter talk to our class today. He told us all about the rigors of boot camp: the 4 a.m. wake up calls... the twenty mile runs in full combat gear... the obstacle courses with barbed wire and live ammo... Paige: That doesn't sound too appealing. Peter: Then he held up for comparison a college calculus textbook. Paige: Smart man. Peter: He couldn't hand out applications fast enough.

I made that decision 60 years ago. Went to Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island the next year (‘64) then to Vietnam (’66-’67). No regrets. Or, as the common tattoo that you see these days says, “No Regerts”! It seems that the tattoo artists have a problem spelling “regrets”! And, no, I do NOT have a tattoo anywhere on me!
