    HEY JACKFLORY

try enlarging the type like this:

toolbar at the top of your page should be a small “A” and a larger “A” - click on the larger “A”

if it’s not there, click on “view” on the very top bar, choose “customize toolbar”

then drag the small/large “A” into your toolbar

so, take away ALL coal and… hmm… nearly 80% of all of america’s power plants would cease to function.

    Nice straw man there, scooby.

No suggestion that all coal power be banned (though it wouldn’t bother me if it could be - the coal pile outside a power plant gives off more radiation than a nuclear plant, and the heavy-metal wastes in coal ash are more dangerous and longer-lasting than nuclear waste).

But there’s coal power and there’s coal power.

Done right, coal power will be a crutch to get us to the point - if it were politically possible - at which we really bring nuclear power online.

I like your little disclaimer “- if it were politically possible -“.

It would be nice if more was invested in finding ways to transport electricity to far distances instead of new ways of generate electricity.

For example Niagara Falls would become a powerhouse if they were able to export the full potential. And no air pollution, so environmentalists will have to find a new reason to complain about it.

There is a power station at Niagara Falls. I’ve seen the damage done by coal mining, uranium mining(including in cemeteries), oil and gas development ,including poisoned aquifers-streams-and destroyed rangelands because of “new” gas extraction techniques.

The energy industry “tries harder” to be the most corrupt on the planet, it isn’t just their damage, but their lies and thievery. Karzai worked for UNOCAL, we take over Afghanistan and HE becomes “our” president of their country- it isn’t just at home.

Yes they do have them, but Niagara falls is capable a lot more.

You wingnuts can’t even think that a cleaner form of energy would make sense. Do you sit and repeat your industry-sponsored mantra that coal use/production results in puppy dogs and rainbows?

So many of these postings are predictable once you’ve read the comic.

For instance, you just knew that scottfreitas would be in favor of pollution.

I’m just amazed that he didn’t toss in a Rush-style frother about “eco-loony feminazis” trying to destroy the manly coal industry.

Nobody said coal should be banned overnight, we should learn to get our energy somewhere else.

Let’s get rid of all the coal. Then we can replace it with wind energy, solar energy, geothermal, hydrogen, and all other forms of non-pollutant forms of energy.

But no, we don’t want that. There’s no money in going green. UP YOURS YOU GREEDY DUMB SH*TS!

d- there is a LOT of money in going green. The question I have is, now that wind energy is actually making money, and has been for a long time, WHY must they still have government subsidies for development?????? Right, they’re those conservative industries that hate government intervention.

hey Sr. Jack Flory was having a hard time reading oliphant’s toon the other day. I was telling him how to make the type bigger.

when you open the application there is the http address bar

just below that is a bookmarks bar

explorer: in the bookmarks bar there will be a plus (+) and a minus ( -) which of course stand for “bigger” and “smaller”

safari: in the bookmarks bar there will be a small capital A and a larger capital A standing for smaller type or larger type

firefox: go to the very top of the screen, above the search screen and click “view” then click text zoom then click size you want

    howzat?

Nearly 2% to 20% of parts of California are run by windmills as a power source, its free. i dont see the price dropping though. Greed is for dead tree limbs fallen off the tree of life.
