Yet as soon as the kids get a little older, these same parents are the ones barking out orders to rush, rush, rush. "Hurry up and do your homework!" "Hurry up and clean your room!" "Hurry up and get your rear end home or you'll be grounded for a decade!" Roger: Peter, I'm trying to take a nap. Hurry up and make your point. Peter: Forget it.

Yes, but the “hurry up” usually means “hurry up and get started”, not “rush though the task itself”
