    Saints preserve us.

Dypak mentioned all the sweating Gertie has done lately… she may be down to her dancing weight at this point!

How is any temporary dancer supposed to know the routines without practice?<< For sure! These sorts of disconnects ruin the suspension of disbelief.

I don’t know some of the dancers that perform as backup to the singers are simple routine dances. These dancers could they be back up for Byrd?

I believe a “back up” has the routine down and is therefore ready to jump into place just in case, as is a singer or actor.

No offense to Gertie but if she were a big gay man in drag she’d know what to do here. Come on girls, lets sing!

The dancing girls don’t know that Gerti don’t know the dance routine They think she is a replacment and therfore assumes she knows the moves. That is my guess.

Fantasy: Byrd has secretly been romancing Hope behind Corky’s back. So what if she’s 81 and he’s about 20-30 years younger! That’s why he comped the Diner folks. He sings “Angel Eyes” to her and Hope leaves to go on the road with the band. Fadeout as Corky and Gertie commiserate over a shared chocolate malted at the Diner.

Walt is confused, but Judy and Gideon Grubb decide to take him to live with them.

2nd Fantasy: The new story has Walt being haunted in his dreams by the ghosts of Avery, Doc, and Bill.

I didn’t know if anyone else had noticed this or not - and whether or not the notice appeared on ALL the pages - or just on some. However, on one of my pages - there was a notice about “winning” a FREE six-month subscription as a “genius” by taking a survey about the Go comics collection. So I took the survey - mostly just to have an opportunity to transmit my editorial opinion about the Comics pages. Although most of the survey questions were pretty straight-forward, there WAS an opportunity at the end of the survey to offer your own editorial opinion - about comics you would like to see added, etc. There IS one tricky question on the survey. The question asks how much you would be willing to pay to have access to an extensive archive. If you answer anything with words in it - such as “Nothing” - the survey will keep rejecting your answer and shows a “sample” of “25.00” I eventually got past this question by entering 00,.00. THEN - at the end of othe survey - I explained that I would not be willing to pay anything to have access to an extensive archive of my favorite comics - because most of my personal favorites can be found at other sites – ALL of which offer extensive archives WITHOUT charging anything for visitors to access those archives. At any rate, as eloquent as this group gets when discussing the various aspects of comic appreciation - I thought that I would let you all know that - in case you spot the notice about taking the survey while you are reading your favorite comics - that the survey appears to be fairly benign - Go Comics DOES keep their word and immediately rewards you by making you a “genius” - and the opportunity to let the web page owners know exactly where you stand on many of the issues raised by the comic pages is an invaluable opportunity in and of itself.

    Happy editoriallizing everyone!

@ Deborah Reyes and anyone wishing to goGenius at goComics. I went ahead and paid for it a few months ago. When I renewed my daily Ink account. I’ve regretted it ever since. I guess if you really use the archives it might be worth it. But even navigating the archives is a pain in the derriere. You have to use the little calendar tool and move it one year/month/day at a time. You can’t just say, “Hmm, wonder what Gasoline Alley played on my birthday in 1961”? It’s the same tool the, beg pardon, non-Geniuses get.

You do get to have all comics emailed to you as one sheet. Which is cool. Unless you want to comment on anything.

And now I come to making comments. For some reason it is more difficult for a genius to comment than for all the free loaders. A free loader can just navigate through each comic and comment as he, or she, goes along. Since a genius can put all the comics on one page again if he wants to comment he has to click on the comment button, wait for the app to load (every time) and then click on the button to take you to the comic. I usually load the comic into yet another window because I dont want to have to navigate back to my home page yet again.

As a genius you don’t even get any more chance to comment to the editorial staff than you do if you were a regular non-paying reader. Honestly, I did expect that as a paying customer I could leave a remark somewhere that I thought actually had some chance of being read by a member of the staff. And, perhaps, even a reply!

So far I’ve found nothing to merit going genius. I dont intend on renewing, I’ll troll around again next year.

@goComics people; If you’re reading this we really would like more input. Especially those of us who paid you. If you’d like us to pay again next year you might want to listen to us. I can be ignored for free. And I won’t feel half as insulted.

Thanks for this info Dypak and Deborah. I did look into going “Genius” at one time but when I asked them what the rate was for Canada they never bothered to answer. Phooey on them. I’d love to have the archive but I wouldn’t have time to read it.

Well - so far - after one day as a “genius” - I would have to say that most of what Dypak said is true. I certainly have no intention of ever actually paying to be a Genius - now that I have had a free sample. One thing that I did take advantage of was the opportunity to start new “My Comic Pages.” I started one page for Gasoline Alley, one page for Brenda Starr, etc. I put just ONE comic in each of those “comic pages.” The comics which I started a new “my comic page” for were the comics where I am most likely to find some well-thought-out and usually fairly polite comments. The reason I did that is that I often check back several times during the day to read the rest of the comments. So when I want to check on just the comments on just those pages, I just go to the home page and check out the comments for those single page “my comics pages.” But one of the comments which I made during the Go comics Survey was that, for the most part, I am not all that impressed by the comments feature. Primarily because, for a growing majority of comics, far too many of the comments are mean-spirited and frequently end up being nothing more than personal attacks on comments made by other posters. I visit a number of comics pages on OTHER sites which will put all your favorite comics out on one page so they are easier to read - have extensive archives which are free to all visitors - but do NOT offer the option of making a comment. I actually PREFER visiting those web sites and usually visit them BEFORE I visit Go Comics There are now a LOT of comics which I first discovered at Go Comics which I actually read first on the other Web Sites because the many mean-spirited comments which tend to turn up in regard to a lot of the other comics on the Go Comics Site just tend to kill my enjoyment of that particular cartoon. So even the comments feature is not anything which I would be willing to pay anyone to have. If the comments were NOT offered to free-loaders - for the most part - I would NOT miss the comments. Except for comments for Gasoline Alley.
