Poor kids - and poor parents and relatives, who usually end up shelling out for the school goodies. I went through that with mine AND with nieces and nephews, as did my brothers and sisters. Luckily all the kids were reasonably staggered, so there was no one time when taking out a home loan to afford the purchases was required.
