I mostly taught in inner city schools, so my kids couldn’t afford gifts even if they’d wanted to, but occasionally someone would give me a book for the classroom library or a bag of supplies. Once in a while a box of candy or a bottle of cologne. A lot of the kids who actually liked school and enjoyed learning would make thank you cards. I treasure those.
