I’ve done these burgers before. You use soy burgers, soy bacon and ersatz cheese. The lettuce, tomato, nonfat mayo and catsup are actually real. Once you get past the reality of what you are eating they aren’t half bad, and they are healthy.
@Earl Walsh not everyone who does not have health insurance eats like there are no consequences. I can only get a very basic insurance because of previous conditions and the medications I take. My back causes me so much pain I can’t work added to the fatigue syndrome and depression it makes my life a misery but I can’t afford the treatments to make it better since just basic insurance is over $300 a month. I take vitamins, natural supplements and cook low fat; although I can’t really exercise, I have lost 20 lbs.
Just saying - insurance has nothing to do with how people eat. Have seen plenty of working people with insurance provided through work who eat like that. One does not necessarily have anything to do with the other.
Besides, where is the Christian attitude towards those less fortunate. Christian charity is becoming just something for “Sunday Talkers” those who go to church on Sunday and talk about helping those less fortunate.
–and a Diet Pepsi… By the way, I am from Canada; over here we have “Public Healthcare”. So being able (or unable) to pay the “Healthcare Insurance” is not an issue.
Taften, I definately was NOT referring that line to everyone who can’t afford health care, only those who purposely abuse their bodies. Based on what you state of yourself however, you appear to take care of yourself to the very best of your ability. There are many like you, but unfortunately there are way too many like Cosmo who are irresponsible to themselves. They not only hurt themselves but their loved ones as well.
I commend youTaften, and you do have my most heart felt sympathy.
As a friendly suggestion, have you checked your state for Medicaid?
IIRC, it was “Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, Pepsi, Pepsi, cheep cheep cheep!”
“Page three and a diet Coke!”
Look for Michael Pollan’s book, In Defense of Food; “Eat food; mostly plants; not too much.”
Inside, it elaborates on this directive; food, not plastic imitation food-analogs; veggies, meat as a condiment; stop before hurting yourself.

It’s ok to eat that burger, just avoid “natural causes”.

You know if I had to eat a veggie burger, I’d probably prefer to starve. There’s a limit to what I’ll do to eat healthier.
But what Cosmo’s ordered doesn’t sound terribly healthy to me.

@Susan001
How many calories? Probably about 3 days worth.
And by the way, he’ll have 3 scoops of organic ice cream on 3 slices of organic apple pie.
Oh, what the heck… lets say more like 2 weeks worth of calories! …And a coronary with a 4 way bypass on the side.
Since he hasen’t any health insurance, he sure hopes every one else is willing to pay for it. After all, how can he help it?
