I assume this started out to be about flash-mob-robberies. But I ask you, when the public was seeing those security-cam vids of that happening, did anyone really look under the age of 14? Cuz they ALL looked over 15-16.

As for anyone under 14 at the mall, it may not be cool to be seen with an adult, but a girl at that age is still impressionable, and can easily be led away by a perv.

The part about the mall being quietly empty…well I can only assume it’s because the unemployment rate is still bad, and no one can afford to max out their credit cards….

What is a “high end” mall? The malls I’ve seen have both Brooks Brothers and Banana Republic (at least when the latter still had its adventure motif). I can remember before malls had food courts, and the only place to get a bite was a Friendly’s restaurant within the mall. But malls change, and some eventually die out. You want to talk vacant? This humongous “mall mall” in my town (sometimes known as the “mall sprawl”) was opened in the 90s with a lot of hoopla. It slowly killed another smaller local mall, but the mall sprawl today has many vacant spots that were once stores. What the h#ll good is “high end?”

OMG NO BOOKSTORE? A mall is NOT a mall unless it has a bookstore!

oh goodness I wish more people would try and remember what it was like at 13! Thats why I enjoy this strip – even as a rerun as it reminds me what the ’dults used to act like and what to watch out in my attitudes now!

But as an adult I loathe the mall and avoid it like anything – only go if I absolutely have to. And yes, all the bookstores here are closing down too, except the discounte $5 ones that sell nothing I am much interested in. Thank goodness for online books nowadays.

Maybe “high end” means “high overhead.”

Actually, our malls don’t allow kids under 16 unaccompanied by an adult – mainly because some 16yos actually work at the mall. But the mall generally closes at 9pm, so they are not there all night.
