The scene; 8th grade music class.. The teacher played EVERYthing in one of two keys, Eflat for boys, Bflat for girls and maybe toss in an F key for chorals.. Guess whose voice decided to change while in front of the whole acne-plagued class?? And SHE had the nerve to be pist that it happened! Years later, we’d laff and laff about that event and I’d buy her another drink… pore old twit, died of alcoholism.
Reminds me so much of all the concerts, plays, choral events, etc. a parent attends – sigh… and of course you have to pretend you’re having a wonderful time (and make sure you keep smiling at your kids and applauding loudly where necessary). I miss those days, though.

This reminds me of “A Day in the Life of a One-Note Man”:

Heh, I remember this one from the first time around; still get a kick out of Mom’s reaction in the penultimate panel.

A work for piano, apparently. Where the flute solo comes in is beyond me. And it does look a bit advanced for fifth-graders.

It looks (and sounds) like a little like a Beethoven Piano Sonata. How a flute (or piccolo) gets a solo in there… I don’t know. :)
