dutchy, you couldn’t be more wrong.

As a continuation from yesterdays strip, dataweaver was absolutely right. The guys on the right tend to ‘compromise’ to often and the guys on the left don’t compromise enough, but demand that people on the right do all the compromising (capitulating really), EVEN WHEN THE GUYS ON THE LEFT ARE IN THE MINORITY.

Hey wndrwrthg, if Danea from Non Sequiture were a real person, you and her would get along just fine. You both are ‘don’t bother me with the facts’ kind of people.

I agree with DB1 on this. For the most part, the GOP has no spine. McCain is the best example. He loves the liberals and hates his own party. The GOP would be far better off if he became the liberal he really is. That is one reason McCain and the party got killed in the election. Another reason they last is Bush governed as a liberal and was horrible at PR. The GOP is a least giving lip-service to conservative principles now, but it is too late. No one trusts them anymore. They will have to spend a long time in the wilderness before they deserve to come back. The pathetic part is 60% of the people have conservative beliefs, but have no party to vote for.

Jeezus. “The GOP lost because it wasn’t radical enough. That McCain is a liberal, not a true conservative.” To anybody who honestly believes that, my suggestion is that you move to, say, Iran. Please do it now, so we can get the mental health of this country back. Failing that, try signing up for therapy. Paranoid schizophrenia is no fun to have around.

Maybe not, but Democracy is when you do what the majority of the nation’s voters want. At this moment in time, the voters have acknowledged that they believe neoconservative, Friedmanist policies got us into this mess, and they elected a clear majority of their representatives to do the opposite. If that means rejecting those who want to continue driving us off the cliff in favor of those who would prefer to drive in a different direction, then so be it. If we lose bipartisanship, and gain the health of our economy back, I think we can live with that.

Mr. Valenzuela, if as you say:“Democracy is when the majority of the nation’s voters want.” then we might have has slavery today. Despite what was taught in history class about the “War of Northern Agression Against the South.” not all people from the north were gung ho about the Civil War. In fact, there were about a third (Abolishionist) for another third (let them sucede if they want I don’t care), and the “Copperheads” who supported the South. Sadly, bi-partisainship means checque your principles at the door and roll over. In ‘95 when the Republicians had control of congress and they decided to stand their ground as soon as the press started to call them “cold-hearted, mean, and simply just don’t care” They caved. When they tried to show that they could spend like “the other guy” but only better and more effectivly. The people were feed up and “Voted the Rascals Out”. I will tip my hat to Rahm Emanuel, he was able to convince more conservative Democrats to run for congress as fiscal conservatives and they won.

Give me a break, accusing the left of not compromising! Because, as we all know, the right compromised all the time during their turn at the wheel. What a crock of stuff!
