If Winslow is supposed to represent government taking over businesses, then it’s a really bad idea because not only does he not have much experience running anything, but almost anything he does get his fingers into he makes worse off.

So, this has happened then? If so, where and to whom? No, you can’t mention Wagoner because what happened to him is not what is happening in this comic strip. So, who is Stantis referring to here?

In 1999 the IRS closed a world-famous brothel, the Mustang Ranch near Las Vegas, after its owner, Joe Conforte, was indicted for failing to pay millions in back taxes as well as for fraud and money laundering. Conforte fled to South America, and the U.S. government discovered it had a profitable legal brothel on its hands. Internet myth has it that the federal Bureau of Land Management, the Mustang Ranch’s new owner, actually kept the sporting house open but eventually ran it into the ground through mismanagement and ended up selling it on eBay for a mere $145,000. The real story is worse.

So now we have a Cookies & Lemonade Czar (though the more accurate term would be Commissar).
I can hardly believe that anyone can fail to see the symbolism here. Danielsangeo must have a terrible time in the woods, bumping into tree after tree and never noticing he is in a forest. He reminds me of people who on hearing “These two guys walk into a bar” immediately asks “What were their names?”

“Two guys walk into a bar” is a joke. This is an editorial cartoon which is supposed to talk about real life events.
However, if what you’re saying is true, then you’re saying Stantis has constructed a strawman and the entire comic has no basis in reality. And, on that, I totally agree with you.

Danielsangeo is speaking English and I am speaking English, yet he seems completely unable to understand either me or the cartoon. Strange. (Cute cat, though.)

If it’s symbolic for something, I am totally missing it. Can you please explain the symbolism and how it relates to the real world?

danielsangeo: Dutchboy1 captured it in the first post (though there is no “if” about it): “If Winslow is supposed to represent government taking over businesses….”
Since you insist on details, there is no better example than Obama demanding the removal of the CEO of General Motors. (That might actually be a good idea, but not by unconstitutional government order.) I hope that is “real world” enough for you.
