I never owned a dog, but it sure was annoying with my former cats’ (seriously plural) presents… especially if some of the presents were to be able to still scurry.

When I was a kid, the family cat brought a mouse into the dining room and commenced to munch and crunch on it…while we were eating supper

When I was about 10 my cat brought a live mouse into the house and then let it go… refusing to catch it, simply sitting there watching as we played with our new “toy”.

You think that’s something? Years ago I had a cat that decided, at 2 AM, to bring a live mouse into the bed, and let it go. Should have seen how my spouse freaked out.

Ha - that’s nothing I have four cats one of whom brings live rabbits to bed. I’ve had to rescue quite a number over the years. My neighbours think it’s hilarious.

Ha HA! I have a cat who brought Jimmy Hoffa into the bed, and then, after I shooed her away, he’s never been seen since.

Have had several such gifts through the years, but the one that tops them all was when one of my dogs brought a live bat into the house. She kept it concealed in her mouth until inside. It was black and I thought one of her lips was swollen. I reached down to feel her lip and she let go of the bat, which started flapping as I held one of its wings. Almost 30 years later, just remembering releases adrenaline.
