Margueritem’s reference is to the movie, “Marathon Man” in which the hero (Dustin Hoffman, I think) is tortured by the bad guy in a dentist chair.
Now that I think of it, I believe he used legitimate dentist tools (which are pretty effective torture instruments in themselves). For some reason, I was thinking of him using a regular power drill. I may be confusing that scene with one from some other movie where a “regular” drill was used.

The “Black & Decker” tools go right along with the “Marathon Man” theme. So do the earplugs, I suppose.
