The sharks circled slowly, cautiously. The smell of blood that had attracted them was faint, lingering, creating half formed memories of frenzies from the past. They were patient, they could wait, they could wait, and there were always the celebrities.
Reminds me of McCain’s joke in the late night show. “What is the difference between a lawyer and a catfish? One is a scum-eating, bottom-dwelling, low-life and the other is a fish”.
But if the suit’s got an umbrella drink, it makes me think he’s the antagonist, while the beer swiller is the protagonist. Maybe that’s my rose-colored glasses view …
Or maybe they’re just two (straight) guys at a bar, having a real discussion. You know, the type I haven’t seen in about a decade, since before everyone and his brother had a cellphone, much less text messaging.
There is so little love for one’s fellow man already in our so-called modern society. Isn’t it ridiculous to get on the hate train about how other people LOVE one another? Especially when there are so many better things to get your knickers in a twist over.
But then again, I forget that getting upset about politics or war or the economy generally requires one to be informed. Getting mad about whether gay people should have the right to marry only requires an opinion.
I think his mother bought him that sweater and he’s awaiting her arrival. Otherwise, I can’t think of any reason anyone would wear something so hideous.
I’m sorry plus4 but it IS as simple as two people loving each other. In an age where many men and women get married and choose not to have children; where poorer people marry into wealth for purely financial reasons; where immigration is circumvented with a marriage of convenience; what possible reason could there be to deny same sex couples the right to officially recognise their relationship in the eyes of the community and the law? And if you sight religion as a reason I’ll scream. Religion has been at the root of much of the worlds intolerance, bigotry and violence. It has a nice message at it’s core but the implementation has been twisted by politics and egos.
…and sometimes a sweater is just a sweater.
Dear Plus4: Before you attempt to use your wit to cut someone to ribbons, perhaps you’d better make sure that you’re equipped with more than a proverbial butter knife in the fight.
Unfortunately for you, my previous comment does not more or less sum up my “understanding of the issue.” I could argue, depending on where you’re living, your general orientation, and your sources of information, that I am far more educated on the subject than you can even imagine.
But this is not the forum for those sorts of proverbial wall-peeing contests, and in any event my point that I think the general debate over the whole issue is a waste of time when there are more important things to worry about still stands.
Your arrogance in talking about how people should be deprived of an opinion on an issue strictly based on what your perception of their stance is is amusing and ironic.

I just love the way WM always gives the protagonist an umbrella drink and the mainstream guy a big ol’ beer.

Good thing for the comments, I hadn’t realized a zig-zagged purple stripe on yellow meant, “gay”.
(I thought the umbrella drink signified that)

bilson – Good call. Never noticed that before.

Besides, I haven’t seen a gay man so lacking in fashion sense as to wear a shirt like that anyway.

It is up to people who want to be involved in the same sex marriage so that’s their problems, not mine. I just back off and make a neutral. :-)

I think it’s time for me to go to law school.
And I will avoid jumping from planes.

The sweater reminds me of the sweaters Bill Cosby would wear on the Cosby Show!

Okay, is it just me, or does the guy in the sweater look like an easter egg?
