Joe Pyle: So what have you been up to, Danae? Danae: Well... I met an alien and I've learned a few things. Joe: Oh? Like what? Danae: Like, you shouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet... Joe: Ah... very good! Danae: ...That aliens aren't scary creatures who want to invade us... Joe: Hmmph... Try telling that to Lou Dobbs. Danae: ...And that martians sent us the program for Twitter as a joke. Joe: Well, now it finally makes sense.

Thus replacing the earlier theory that the Martians sent us Twitter to cause our society to slowly grind to a halt.

introduce a real person and you progress from comic to editorial. No longer make believe or humorous but reality.

And that leads me to the conclusion (‘scuse the spelling) that Maritans have a very cruel sense of humor.

The new consperacy theory?

vaguely remember the TV show, saw some episodes on a “classic TV” type channel here a couple of years back, but it seemed very dated to me now. Ray Walston’s guest spot in the movie remake was the funniest part of it that I’ve seen (haven’t seen the whole flick yet). “I’ve been trying to hitch a ride for 30 years!” Priceless.

Don’t blame them, the Martians only gave us Twitter because they received it from God.

Reality can be very humorous. Just usually not at the time.

What a great little punch to a wonderfully illustrated story line! You’ve done it again Mr. Miller. Well told! Thanks!

My local paper doesn’t carry this strip. Guess they feel it is too funny. Wiley, you are just sooo full of wit and humor!

I think the Lou Dobbs crack is funny!

“My local paper doesn’t carry this strip.”
Then you need to call the editor of the paper and DEMAND that they carry it. You are their customer, and they won’t know what you want unless you tell them. Otherwise, they’ll believe that you’re happy with what they’re giving you.

joeday07 asked - Can’t reality be humorous? That’s why some of US like to watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart &/or The Colbert Report. Reality mixed with imagination can be humorous too - Science Fiction is full of humor to off-set some of the horror.
We know the stories about Roswell NM, UFO’s & reverse engineering. But do you know about the discovery of radio detectors in the 1890’s? Googling brings out some interesting stuff.
Wikipedia has information about Édouard Branly and his invention of the Branly Coherer (detected radio waves ) in the early 1890’s. HG Wells wrote War of the Worlds in the 1890s. Radio broadcasting was developed soon afterwards - the first transmission of the human voice was in the early 1900’s.
We know what happened in 1938 after the radio drama production of War of the Worlds was broadcast - some folks panic thinking we’ve been invaded by Martians. Now the Martians were probably thinking “That’s Entertainment” (ref: 1974 movie compilation of 50 years of movies) and gave us talking pictures, television, computers, etc.
Those Martians are probably laughing at us now Twittering “Much ado about nothing” .
Thanks Wiley for a good belly laugh this week. I’m looking forward to more revelations!

rayannina; The cell phone itself was designed to do that, or at least to slow us down until they developed Twitter, the Ultimate intellect destroying device.

And in other news, it has been learned that the Martians also inflicted reality TV on us. The government has declared this an act of war.

I’ve tried demanding strips before, they just laughed, now they’re shocked, just shocked that readership is down – well, I don’t subscribe anymore and maybe there are others who feel the same way (duh!!)

I think the last frame might really be the truth.
