If you read about the history of the Kellogg brothers or Post of Toasties fame and others of the early health food movement, you will learn they started as an outgrowth of religion. This explains a great deal of why health food still has the attitude that if it tastes good, it must be bad and vice versa. Religion never has been very big on enjoying life on earth.
