Both our mail and newspaper are delivered by car, because we live outside the city. During our winter snowstorm there were several days when we didn’t get the mail, but we got the newspaper everyday. I guess it’s the difference between a privately owned business and a government operated one.
The USPS is a semi-private corporation supported entirely by the sale of stamps etc. The USPS is regulated by acts of Congress though since it was created under the guidelines of the Constitution. No tax money has gone to the USPS since 1971.
IF you really want to make a comparison, try the $.41 for a letter to the $3something that the exact same service from UPS or FedEx.
Carrying the post every day through extremes of weather and normal changes of health (always on your feet & exposed to the elements despite colds and aches) is a tough job worthy of a salute.

Sure, don’t buy their stamps…Poor mailman. I’m sure he’s happy that all his customers are not like the Pennys.

arceedee, I have known a few postmen over the years who eventually have to have either knee, hip or foot surgery. I’d say there’s a connection there!

yes Drystyha - and as boozoothatswho says, they perform a remarkable service moving gazillions of pieces daily, for a very reasonable price!
