I finally caught on last Thanksgiving, when Jerry gave thanks for “still having all my hair.”
I finally realized that the thing on his head is NOT a poorly-drawn beret! I guess I just figured he was trying to be a suave Frenchman. I never really thought about why Jerry’s MOM might wear an identical, though somewhat larger, beret.

I still see Jerry’s toop as a HAT! Probably because I was reading this for a couple of years before I realized it WASN’T a hat.
