I’m still not so into the color…especially in such a wonderfully rendered moody cemetery. Also vaguely curious as to why Gertie would get it into her head that Walt would wander to the graveyard. But whatever, I still like this strip.
Gertie’s predecessor Eve may have filled Walt’s house with a biker gang and naked women, then got Walt arrested for disturbing the peace, but she never lost him.
That isn’t Walt, it’s an echo…echo…echo…I agree with Macushlalondra. Gertie needs to see if Walt’s at home; however I think she’s going to be scared out of her wits first…
Technically speaking, the Houston Chronicle and Comic Strip Nation still post Gasoline Alley in black and white. Plus, of course, if you receive the Go Comics strips via E mail - the E mail edition is still in black and white

The echo must be coming from an open grave.
Will she fall in?
I don’t like the coloring, too Saturday morning cartoon-y. The comics were colorized a couple years ago, but not by the artists. It was an after the fact kind of thing. Some liked it some didn’t.
Thanks, Deborah– you are always so helpful! Now I’m sure: I *do* like b&w better. I wonder if I should just post that as my comment month after month?
About molasses being slow, I would have to say that is not always true. The Great Molasses Flood, which occurred on January 15, 1919, in Boston began when a gigantic molasses storage tank burst. A wave of molasses rushed through the streets at an estimated 35 mph killing 21 and injuring 150. Strange, but true and tragic.
I agree, todays strip is much better in B&W. The color is fine for comic strips with low quality art to begin with. But putting color in GA is like putting the Venus de Milo in a dress. Some folks will think it’s an improvement. Others will see it as not necessary and detracting from the original intent of the artist.
I’m sure this is something that the editors have been pushing on Jim for a long time. Too many people out there need the flashy colors. What a shame.

I would like to see it go back to black and white. It would be cool to be able to see it both ways.

It’s still in B&W in the daily email.

Echo? Parrot? Mynah bird? No way it’s Walt.

Gertie, go back home to Mr. Walt’s house and see if he’s there. I have a feeling he’s home safe in bed.
As for you Not Norman will you please shut up? Thank you.

Enough with the JAD name-calling, NotNorman.

If you really want to see this in black and white, just save the image and then modify with photo software to make it black and white.
I’ll bet nobody prefers black and white so much to be doing that every day. Either way is fine for me.

Doesn’t matter if this is in black and white or color.
What color is molasses? The color slower than that belongs on GA.

Black and white seem better to me—the colorizing is distracting

Why does this make me think of the underground train tunnel scene in Ghostbusters II?

Wiiiiinston Zedimore!
My favorite scene in the whole movie!
