I’d be utterly amazed if Gertie still had her job after this debacle. To be responsible for a man over 100 years old and then “lose him”? Unbelievable.
Been busy lately, g6793, but thanks for the shout-out. Believe me, I’ve been thinking about alternatives for some time, but the one I really want to do involves Walt in a fairly major way.
I figure Gretchen is still dating Tom (the guy she met on the plane back from Europe) and Gus’ lawn-care business has gotten to the point that he’s had to buy a truck (he and Kathleen will be 17 this Christmas) and some equipment, with assistance from Chipper and possibly Skeezix (since Skeezix got him started on it back in ‘07).
Rover remains a househusband to forest-ranger Hoogy, but now that five-year-old Boog is presumably in kindergarten, maybe he’s looking to pick up a few bucks working part-time at the garage while Boog is in school. Another possibility would be that Hoogy’s pregnant again and Rover just plain needs to find a job.
Maybe Kathleen Elly is applying to colleges.
Ada and Amanda Lynn are 20 to 21. What are they doing with their lives? Is Amanda Lynn still with harmonica guy?
Where’s Judy? Is she still married to Gideon? How’s her health? Gabriel’s 43, what’s he up to? Married? Kids?
Skeezix and Nina are both 88 and pretty spry. What if Nina, say, decided she could no longer drive at night? Or at all?
Corky’s 81. How old is Hope? How’s she doing? Does she want Corky to spend less time at the diner? Does he have anyone in mind to take it over when the time comes?
Last time we saw Eve, the cops were dragging her away. Did she go to jail for elder abuse? Is she still there, or is she out now? Does Corky finally realize she’s the bad seed in the family? Or maybe she’s cleaned up her act and shows up acting like her own polar opposite.

I know that JIm must have an affinity for the characters that he created but there is a rich assortment of “people” in GA that need to be heard from.
