Yep, my l lab Cleo is wired the same way. Okay Brian, we have to arrange a play date. Sophie comes over to visit my lab Cleo. Cleo will take her on her rounds, first to the neighbor across the street, then down the road to her dachshund pals, whom Cleo saved from two pit bulls, back across no name creek to our door, where she will scratch until I either feed her, let her in, or lead her down to the lake to toss a stick for her to fetch. Doesn’t that sound like a fun play date for Sophie. Oh, and their are no leashes involved.

Sophie would love that! So long as they stopped off to see some kids along the way.

Cleo is a black lab. As, I said, we live on a lake and one our neighbors has a summer cabin. I was watering our garden and Cleo was lying in the yard. Another of our neighbors was out walking her dachshunds when I heard her screaming for help. Cleo and I ran down the hill to the rode where we saw her and her dogs backed up against a wall with the weekenders male and pregnant female advancing the dachshunds. Cleo ran and placed herself between the dogs and diffused the situation. She’s been a hero since to our neighbor.

The word “cookie” is about the only thing that makes my dog come to me, too.
