That depends on which version of the myth you read. Some versions do depict Atlas as supporting the Earth, not the heavens (but having him support the heavens makes more sense, in light of his encounters with Heracles – whom Atlas nearly dupes into assuming the burden for eternity – and Perseus – who finally relieves Atlas of his suffering by using Medusa’s head to turn him into a stone mountain.)
And Jason is lucky that Peter had his hands full, otherwise, he might be finding himself carrying that globe in an entirely different manner.

That’s probably true, TrapperJohn, but since it’s Peter doing the lifting, I’ll bet he can’t be pressing more than 20 or 30 lbs at the most.
