Observe why the budget cuts are getting a whole lot of nowhere — both side of the aisle have sacred cows they will not allow to be touched. Sadly, our financial situation is such that in order to make meaningful cuts there can be no sacred cows. The needed cuts will be painful no matter what, so we either own up, suck it up and deal with it like adults or we let the status quo continue. It is not a matter of if we must deal with it…it is WHEN. It will hurt no matter what, but it will hurt a lot less to do it now when we have the choice instead of waiting until we are forced to like Greece was. It will hurt a whole lot more later than in will now.
