USS Hancock, 1975. We pulled into Hong Kong and the first place my buddies wanted to hit was McDonalds. Go figure!

There’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve been to the McDonald’s on Shaftesbury Avenue in Piccadilly Circus, and the nearby KFC. London is as cosmopolitan as any city in the world. You can get any kind of food there. I usually prefer grabbing a sandwich at the local Marks and Spencer’s. The statue of Eros is also historical. It dates back to 1893.

Although most people think the statue honors Eros, it was actually commissioned as a depiction of the virtue of charity, and is officially the Shaftesbury Monument.

Given ehat I have heard about authentic British food, I would stick to burger joints myself

But oh, the curries. Friend of mine from Manchester learned how to make Indian food while she was growing up, and her cooking is delightful.
