As they say, if you remember the 60’s, you weren’t part of them.

Dusty is my alter-ego (for better or worse).

I do remember the 60’s. All my drugs came with a copay…… In Wyoming the drug of choice was BEER.

JAD, your choice of lifestyle is your choice. There are elements of it that many people find offensive, but they don’t comment every day on how you should live your life like you do with other peoples’ choices. Try a little MYOB when it comes to things other people do that don’t concern you in the least.

I’ve just made an embarassingly small donation to the fund drive in honor of Joe Allen Doty. I hope other fans of evil robots, talking dogs, and laconic retirees will do the same.

I think there’s a big difference between commenting on something that I’ve done myself, which worked out well, and “commenting on other people’s choices”.

I remember the Sixties fondly, every wild minute, and I didn’t do drugs either. Nor did I join the Army. I’m sorry, but that simply does not mean I’m criticizing anyone who did!

I personally have two different friends who’ve suffered traumatic brain injury. They require extra tolerance from us - but in most cases they really deserve it. We might as well get used to it, because we’re going to be living with a hell of a lot more Americans with TBI who deserve our patient effort to treat them right. Nowadays, our wars gravely injure far more GIs than they kill. (I salute Garry Trudeau for spotlighting this fact and illustrating the consequences in many recent Doonesbury story lines.)

Joe Allen, I respect your openness. But I hope we all leave the cartooning to the professionals. It’s hard enough for them to make money on it if the rest of us don’t try to compete!
