Connie: I was an x-ray technician with no experience. Our equipment only worked when we could get the generators to run. People came on foot through the mountains carrying the sick, children carrying children. Few of them had shoes. They would line up at our makeshift clinics and wait all day. Some we could help. Others, we could not. Still, they smiled and they thanked us... And we learned to accept their gratitude as one would accept a gift.
