Not too sure how happy their parents will be when they show up with a turkey - though friends of ours raised and killed their own (ours too - we got to be there for the slaughtering).
BTW, I don’t really think schools are all about PC (I spend a lot of time in them), though I do think whenever something stupid happens, it gets a lot of air time. I will say that I think schools are safer today than when I was a kid in the 70s. My kids don’t believe the stories I tell about my old high school days.
