Clerk: May I help you, sir? Michael: Yes... I'd like to get a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. Clerk: What about your mother!? Michael: Yeah, right... we're living with my mom right now... and I have two sisters! Oh... and a young daughter. Woman: You're look for five gifts! Michael: That means I'd be leaving out my son and my father. Clerk: And your wife's parents? You'll need gift tags with these! Michael: Really? Um... OK. Clerk: Happy Valentine's Day? Michael: Merry Christmas!!

I’ve never understood this – to the best of my knowledge (here in Australia) we only give valentines to our sweetheart/partner. I would never imagine giving one to a parent, in-law or child and I’ve never (knowingly) known anyone who would. (Obviously valentines in school may be done differently when it happens.)
