Beautiful! Lynn has a real grasp on life and in this case the way to have a successful and happy marriage. YEAH!

I’ll just bet that Lynn cried when she wrote those lines about marriage. I’ll also bet that she feels cheated.

Many true and lovely things said here that all could benefit from. The only thing missing was mentioning that marriage is between one man and one woman, but perhaps that is obvious with the reaction of the young couple and the parents.

Do not make promises you cannot keep.

Awww. I was at a wedding yesterday and noticed the married couples around me with the same look in their eyes as the parents do.

Thank you, Lynn, for a great story.

I may include a copy of today’s strip in my pre-marital information. It is a great summary of wedding advice.

I just stood as best man beside my brother yesterday as he married and said the same thing - with the same look - to my beloved wife of 20 years. Thank you Lynn for writing it through the pain you must have felt in your own life.

westiewestaz you might want to read the strip from a few days ago where Lawrence and Michael have a little chat, I don’t think LJ would agree with you or make the statement you were talking about.

Nope Ant was emotionally unfaithful to Therese long before she upped and left.

She didn’t want to have kids, he passive-aggressively pressurized her into it.

And then when the current Mrs Ant had just nearly been raped Ant took the opportunity to blub about how his marriage was on the rocks.

Yep he’s quite the prize ;)

What a beautiful and poignant strip… I hope she never stops. Johnston has more courage and sensitivity that any other cartoonist in the business today, in my opinion! Bravo.

Beautifully done, beautiful detail, with that Johnston hint of the bittersweet.

JmcaRice: Much as I disagree with what westiewestaz said, it's hardly out of place. Lynn brought the issue up herself last week.

They’re not even married and he plans to hit up his CPA son-in-law for freebies. Poor Anthony doesn’t know hat he’s getting into - a lifetime of her dad’s IRA hassles.

I remind you, it wasn’t Anthony who broke a promise in the first place. It was his ex who wanted the divorce.
