BC13: from yesterday, it’s not the number of movies, it’s the titles you guys have been listing. We have a lot of great old movies, and some garbage as well, but some of the titles you listed are missing from the collection and I can’t afford to buy a lot more. And yes, I agree that all 3 of us are doing what we love. My husband is a movie-trivia encyclopedia. If someone asks me about an old movie, I call him and he almost always has the answer.

Agreed, we are doing what we love and I was a little quick to be jealous of your collection without really knowing the substance. But with 650 titles, I’m sure you you own a few titles that might make me drool.
For me, space is as much a consideration as cost, so I am trying to weed out my “garbage” that will likely be on VHS and replace them with some classics on DVD or replace the fading VHS tapes with DVD’s as needed.

I have that Day/Cagney movie you refer to.
Last Night I saw Field of Dreams - a more modern classic that I am not willing to part with. I am willing to part with 61*, but not Field of Dreams.
I don’t have 78’s but I do have a CD’s by Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller. A Christmas CD by Bing Crosby (with the only version of White Christmas I like). I also have the Fabulous Dorseys movie.
I was not, however, big on Rock Hudson. I prefered the Doris Day movies without him.
BC13: I was young when The Rock-Doris movies came out, and my family always thought that Rock actually was interested in people of the female gender - it was much later we discovered things weren’t as they appeared…lol.
You just made me realize I DON’T have “Field of Dreams” - I need to get that. I enjoy Kevin Costner, even though he always plays Kevin Costner. I first saw him in “Silverado (I have that), then picked up more, like “The Postman”, “Waterworld” (I know, I know, but I actually enjoyed it, even with Dennis Hopper so over the top), “Dances With Wolves”, “Open Range”, and, of course, the two disc “Wyatt Earp”. I need to get “Field of Dreams”, d@rn it…
P.S. After thinking about it, as much as I like Bogart with Bacall, and as much as I enjoy “Casablanca”, if I had to choose, I think I would pick “The African Queen” as my favorite Bogart movie out of all his movies in my collection…
You have to know that the boss will be reading the blog too, whether you blogged out loud or not. Not a smart thing to blog if you want your job.
You also want to remember that the boss can probably get into your computer from his/her computer and private emails on office computers make good reading.
I’m only 49 so I probably wasn’t around for a good many of those Rock/Doris movies myself, though they did make some in the 60’s.
With All The Costner you have, you don’t have Bull Durham?
I would have to go with Casablance, Key Largo, and The Big Sleep in that order as my top 3. I prefer Hepburn with Tracy: Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, Woman of the Year and Pat and Mike.
We diverge again, BC13. The only reason I have a movie with Hepburn in it is because she was in T.A.Q. If someone else had been, I would have NO movies with her (I guess you ARE younger than me, but I’m still better looking). May be hard for you to believe, but I actually have no Spencer Tracy movies, either, except incidentally, such as Boom Town or San Francisco, It’s a Mad etc. World, or Broken Lance. I DO want to get “Bad Day At Black Rock” one of these days, though - that was a classic in my opinion.

When you blog at the office, let your fingers do the talking, otherwise you’ll be doing some walking.

sjoujke - It’s not a computer, it’s a paper shredder. If the Perfessor gets fired, he’ll have to go work for The Washington Compost!
